The friendly match against Honduras this Friday in Seoul South Korea will be South Korean football manager Cho Kwang-rae's final game to be ready for the 2014 Brazil World Cup.
“I will set the national team through Friday's game,” Cho said.
“So next time I call up the players for another international match, I will try to have the group of must-have players, not the ones who need testing,” he added during a press interview at the National Football Center in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, Wednesday.
South Korea will be playing for the third round of the World Cup qualification matches this September 2011.
Cho has reiterated that my main objective as coach is to prepare our team for the World Cup in Brazil, but he did not give a specify the date as to when he will be able give to the list of players who will make up the team. His guidelines for choosing the team members must be a “suitable players who can carry out his tactics of quick transition play and promoting team work.”
Cho has increased the number of players to 27 for the Honduras friendly,he use only 23 players in recent international games.
He will be getting 17 local players from the K-League,which includes five defensive players. Additionally, Seongnam Chunma's Kim Sung-whan, FC Seoul midfielder Kim Tae-hwan, Pohang Steelers forward Cho Chan-ho, and Gwangu FC striker Park Gi-dongwill be playing for the national team.
Cho is looking for players to replace retired veterans Park Ji-sung and Lee Young-pyo. South Korea lacks the attack with out them, in a friendly with Turkey on Feb. 10, the first match after their retirement in January.
