Image via WikipediaBarcelona defender Gerard Pique predicts it would be a "great" event to meet arch-rivals Real Madrid going to their Champions League semi-final clash .Barcelona registered a convincing 5-1 against Shakhtar Donetsk in the first leg of their quarter-final tie at the Nou Camp on Wednesday evening, while Real Madrid defeated 10-man Tottenham 4-0 at home on Tuesday.
Barcelona and Real Madrid won convincingly at home, they are now the favorites to advance on the semi-finals and will be facing each other in the grand finals at Wembley in London.
Image via WikipediaGerard Pique is now excited for their game against Real Madrid and told Sky Sports after the match: “Europe wants this [Barca Real Madrid semi-final]? Yeah, I think so. Everyone wants this because there is a lot of rivalry between the teams. Barca and Real Madrid are really good teams, two of the most important in Europe, and if we both qualify, then it will be a great game.”
“They are a great team and it's always difficult to play against them. I think we played really well and 5-1 is a great score to go to Ukraine [for the second leg],” he said.
“They have really good players, good strikers who are really quick; Brazilians with a lot of skills and a lot of quality and I think that we had to work really hard. I think that we did a good job.”
The last time they meet was Champions League 2001-02 were real madrid won and face Bayern Leverkusen 2-1 in the Champions league Finals.
